Charged particles in magnetic fields

Launch particles through adjustable electric and magnetic fields. Compare curvature, helices, velocity selection and mass separation.

WHAT TO NOTICE

The force is sideways

A magnetic field changes a charged particle’s direction, not its speed. Positive and negative charges curve in opposite directions. A velocity component parallel to the field remains unchanged, producing a helix.

F = q(E + v × B)r = mv⊥ / |q|Bω = |q|B / m

Educational, non-relativistic model using scaled units. It is not suitable for engineering or safety calculations.
